Why this game works so well

The first ten seconds of a conversation with a stranger are the hardest. "Hey, how are you?" helps nobody. An absurd question does.

"Would you rather fly or be invisible?" forces a choice, and a choice demands justification. Thirty seconds later you are debating instead of hunting for something to say. That is why the format has survived for decades, from playgrounds to parties.

How it works on PLOXX

1. You offer the game to the person you are chatting with.
2. You both vote on the theme. Six available: Classic, Absurd, Food, Gaming, Movies & web, Spicy. Pick the same one and that is it. Disagree, and a random draw decides between your two choices - nobody imposes their theme.
3. You each answer in secret, then both answers reveal at once.
4. Your agreement score climbs every time you match, and a matching answer earns Plox for both of you.

Once a theme runs out, the vote returns with the remaining themes: never the same question twice.

139 questions, from soft to spicy

The catalogue deliberately spans very different registers, because a good session alternates the silly and the sincere:

• Classic - "Fly" or "Be invisible", "Read minds" or "See the future".
• Absurd - the biggest theme, and the funniest.
• Food - "Only eat sweet" or "only savoury". Surprisingly heated debates.
• Gaming - "Play solo" or "online with friends".
• Movies & web - series, films, internet culture.
• Spicy - flirty but never sexual: the platform is for ages 15 and up, with ages kept separate.

Every question exists in all 6 interface languages: a French-English match sees the same question, each in their own language.

And after the game?

The mini-game is not isolated, it is a door in. If it clicked, you add the person (6-character friend code) and can move on to 2v2, watching a video together, or building a team.

And if you would rather play without showing your face, you can stay in text or use an avatar.

The seven questions of the day, in the Arena

Since September 2026, Would You Rather also has a delayed version in the Arena: seven questions drawn each day in a category, the same for everyone, and as soon as you answer the seventh, your match rate with the last people who came through. Six identical answers out of seven makes you "soulmates".
