Two truths, one lie

The principle fits in one sentence: you state three things about yourself, two true and one false, and the other person has to spot the lie. The real obstacle is never the rule - it is thinking of what to say. That is exactly what we fixed.

The problem this game always creates

Everyone knows the rule, and everyone gets stuck in the same place: coming up with three statements. Under pressure you fall back on "I have broken a bone" or "I do not like chocolate", and the round dies there.

That is why the most common search is not how to play but "two truths and a lie ideas". People are not looking for the rule, they are looking for examples.

Here you do not have to find any: the game hands you a pool of neutral statements, and you simply pick the two that are true for you plus one that is not. Your opponent guesses, then both sides are revealed.

→ Start a round

It remembers what you have already used

The flaw in idea lists is that by the second round you are recycling the same statements. So the game keeps track of the ones you have already used and drops them from later pools, until the bank - 202 statements - runs out and a new cycle starts.

In practice: two people playing again do not see the same statements twice, and you cannot lean on your favourite lie.

Why the statements come from a bank rather than from you

That is a choice, not a technical limit. A curated bank guarantees two things a free text field cannot:

Same logic as Would You Rather: prepared content rather than free text, which is what makes the game usable with a stranger and not only among friends.

When to bring it out

It is the best second game, rarely the first. Would You Rather takes zero effort and gets the conversation moving; Two truths one lie asks you to say a little about yourself, which works better once the ice is broken.

It plays one-on-one in a match, on webcam or without a camera. For group formats, the impostor game and the drawing game fit better - the full tour is on the games to play on a video call page.

The same game, on a delay, in the Arena

Since September 2026, your two-truths-one-lie card can also wait for the others' guesses for 48 hours, with nobody online at the same time: that's the Arena. Spotting the lie earns 2 Plox and 5 points, and every person fooled earns the author 2.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play two truths one lie?

You state three things about yourself: two true and one false. The other person has to guess which one is the lie, then both sides are revealed. On PLOXX the statements are offered to you, and you simply pick which ones are true for you.

Where can I find two truths and a lie ideas?

The game offers them directly: a bank of 42 neutral statements, and it remembers the ones you have already used so it does not repeat them. No need to copy a list from elsewhere.

Why can I not write my own statements?

That is deliberate. A curated bank guarantees nothing is awkward in front of a stranger, and that every statement exists in all six site languages - so the game works even between two people who do not share a language.

Can more than two people play?

This version is one-on-one in a match. For groups, the impostor game and the drawing game are a better fit.

Is it free?

Yes, like every mini-game: free, no signup, in the browser.
