Free video chat with strangers - no signup required
No 8-field form. No email verification. No phone number. You click, allow your camera - or keep it off and use an avatar - and you are talking. The fastest genuinely free video chat, moderated from the first second.
Free video chat in a few clicks
Most sites promise "free video chat" and then hand you a ridiculous obstacle course: create an account, verify an email, fill a profile - and only then can you chat. PLOXX breaks that pattern.
No account, no email: build your avatar (by continuing, you accept the house rules), declare your age before your first match, and hit Start. Your camera starts off: the other person sees your avatar, and you turn it on only if you want to. Friction kills conversations, so we keep it to a minimum.
Genuinely free - here's what that means
"Free" has stopped meaning much in this category: on most platforms you have to hunt around before you find out what actually costs money. So here is the list, in both directions. What is free stays free for life:
- Random matching - text and video
- Automatic chat translation - everyone reads in their own language
- The Arena and squads
- The friends system with a 6-character code
- Levels, ranks and badges
- Moderation and reporting
What is optional (and funds the service): cosmetics and PLOXX Pro, a comfort subscription with +50% EXP and bonus Plox. None of it gates the core experience. You can video chat for years without ever paying.
Your face is optional
Free video chat usually means "your face, live, to a stranger". PLOXX gives you a third option no other platform has: an avatar. Build a character and appear as it while you talk - visually present, real face never shown.
So you get three ways to show up:
- Full webcam - classic face-to-face.
- Avatar - your character on screen, camera off, still expressive.
- Text only - no camera at all.
This is what makes PLOXX the safest free video chat for anyone who wants to meet people without putting their face on a stranger's screen.
Free doesn't mean unsafe
Free video chat and safety are usually a trade-off. PLOXX refuses it:
- Encrypted video (WebRTC) - only the person in front of you sees your camera, unless you file a report. For 15 to 17 year olds, video always goes through our servers, so their IP address stays hidden from the other person.
- Active moderation - a human team reads reports and acts, with camera snapshots captured on report and IP bans for repeat offenders.
- Anonymous by default - no email, no name, no phone. Your account is a browser ID.
- Age-gated (15+) - PLOXX is for ages 15 and up: everyone declares their age before their first match, and under-15s are turned away; anything inappropriate involving a minor is handled as a priority.

How free video chat works on PLOXX
- Land on the homepage. Build your avatar: by continuing, you accept the short code of conduct. No email, no phone number; your age range is asked once, before your first match.
- Start as your avatar. Your camera starts off and the text chat is always there; turn the webcam on only if you want to.
- Hit Start. Matches run every evening from 9pm to 11pm (Paris time), when everyone plays at once. Skip to the next person any time.
That is it. Compare PLOXX with the field on our alternatives page, or read why it is the top Omegle alternative.
And none of it involves an install: see video chat with no download.
Frequently asked questions
Is PLOXX really free video chat?

Can I video chat for free without showing my face?
Yes. Your camera starts off: you appear as your avatar, and the text chat is always there. Your real face is never required.
Do I need to sign up or pay for free video chat?
No signup, no email, no credit card. You build your avatar, which means accepting the short house rules, and you are ready to chat.
Is free video chat with strangers safe on PLOXX?
PLOXX is for ages 15 and up: everyone declares their age before their first match, and under-15s are turned away. It is built for safety: video that always goes through our servers for 15 to 17 year olds so their IP stays hidden from the other person, active human moderation, one-tap reporting, an anonymous account, and priority handling of anything involving a minor.
What do I need for video chat to work?
A webcam and mic if you want to turn your camera on, and about 1 Mbps upload for smooth quality. With the camera off you appear as your avatar, which needs no webcam at all, and the text chat works on almost any connection.
