About OmeTV
OmeTV (often written Ome.tv) is one of the busiest alternatives since Omegle closed. It faithfully echoes the original's spirit while offering a decent mobile app, which explains much of its success.
Its community is highly international, with enough volume to keep wait times short at almost any hour. In exchange, the business model leans on a fairly aggressive freemium approach.

Our verdict
OmeTV is a defensible pick if your only criterion is recreating Omegle with volume. But you will pay for features PLOXX gives away (filters), and you will lose every person you meet for lack of a friends system. PLOXX also adds age separation and the faceless avatar.

Is OmeTV safe for a 15-year-old?
By its own terms it is 18+, the stores rate it 17+ and PEGI 18, and Australia's regulator had it pulled from the stores there in October 2025 over the grooming of children. Nothing in its rules separates adults from minors. That is a no.
Why is it still on the stores in Europe?
The removal was Australian. Elsewhere the apps are still listed, with a PEGI 18 rating. A rating is information for parents, not a barrier at the door.
My teenager already uses it. What now?
Talk about it before taking the phone away: ask what they like about it, then look at the reporting and blocking tools together. Then check the one thing that matters most, whether adults and minors can be matched together. When a service does not say, or says 18+, it was not built with your child in mind, and that is worth saying out loud.
What does PLOXX do differently?
PLOXX runs in the browser, accepts people from 15 with an age declared once, shows an avatar instead of the face, has one-tap reporting and continuous moderation, and sells nothing but cosmetics: nobody pays to talk.
