Is Chatiw for teenagers?
No: the terms say 18 or older, and the age field on the door starts at 18. Nothing checks it beyond the choice in a list.
Text only, so it is safer?
Text removes the camera, not the stranger. The risk in an open text room is in what gets said and asked, and Chatiw describes a law-enforcement page and safety tips, not how the rooms are moderated.
My teenager already uses it. What now?
Talk about it before taking the phone away: ask what they like about it, then look at the reporting and blocking tools together. Then check the one thing that matters most, whether adults and minors can be matched together. When a service does not say, or says 18+, it was not built with your child in mind, and that is worth saying out loud.
