Chat app for teens: made for 15+, not for everyone
Most chat apps say they are for everyone. PLOXX is built for 15 and up: everyone declares their age before their first match, and under-15s are turned away. For 15 to 17 year olds, video always goes through our servers, so their IP address stays hidden from the other person. Plus you never have to show your face.
The thing most chat apps get wrong
Almost every random chat app has a minimum age buried in its terms, and almost none acts on it. The rule exists on paper, and the app hopes nothing happens.
PLOXX treats age as a real rule, not a legal formality. Everyone declares their age before their first match - and cannot change it afterwards - and under-15s are turned away. For 15 to 17 year olds, video always goes through our servers, so their IP address stays hidden from the other person.
You choose how visible you are
Being asked to turn a camera on to talk to strangers is a lot, especially at 15. So it is never required:
- Avatar - build a character (hair, eyes, outfit, neon frame) and appear as it. Expressive, present, and your real face is never transmitted.
- Text only - no camera, no mic.
- Webcam - if and when you want, with whoever you want.
Nothing to screenshot means nothing to reuse. More on this on the avatar chat page.
It's a game, not just a chat
A chat app where you only talk gets boring fast. Here the conversation is the entry point:
- Ice-breaker mini-games - Would You Rather with 280 questions across 6 themes, so nobody has to think of an opener.
- Friends that stick - a 6-character code means the people you click with are not lost when the chat ends.
- Teams and battles - build a squad of up to 10 and take on other squads.
- Watch things together - a synced YouTube TV in the group room.
- Progression - XP, 13 ranks, badges, and chests you earn by playing.
What it costs, honestly
Matching, text and video chat, friends, squads, mini-games, levels and moderation are free with no time limit.
What is optional: the shop offers cosmetics and PLOXX Pro, a comfort subscription: +50% EXP and bonus Plox, which also spend in the shop. Nobody buys a win: a duel comes down to your level, your gear and your tactics, and chests are never for sale.
The rules, and why they exist
- 15 and up. Under 15, this is not the right place - and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
- No nudity, no sexual content. Instant ban, no discussion.
- Report anything off. One tap sends a snapshot to the moderation team. Serious cases involving a minor are prioritised and can be escalated to the authorities.
- Never share your full name, address or school. The platform never asks for them either.
- Skip freely. If a conversation feels wrong, leave. You owe a stranger nothing.
If a parent has questions, we wrote them a straight answer: the parents' guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a chat app for 15 year olds?
PLOXX is built for 15+ specifically: everyone declares their age before their first match, and under-15s are turned away. For 15 to 17 year olds, video always goes through our servers, so their IP address stays hidden from the other person.
Do I have to show my face?
No. You can appear as an avatar you build, or stay in text only. The webcam is always optional and never required to take part.
Is it free?
Yes. Matching, chat, friends, mini-games, levels and moderation are free with no limit. Optionally, the shop offers cosmetics and PLOXX Pro, a comfort subscription: +50% EXP and bonus Plox.
Do I need to download an app?
No. It runs in your browser and installs as a PWA in two taps if you want an icon on your home screen - no app store, no account, no email.
What if someone makes me uncomfortable?
Skip immediately - you never owe a stranger an explanation - and hit the report button, which sends a snapshot to the moderation team. Repeat offenders get IP-banned.
