Group chat room with friends: talk, play and watch together
The HQ is the PLOXX group room: up to 10 friends, with chat, a video call, sounds to throw around and a TV to watch a video in sync. It is not just for talking - it is for doing things together.
What you can do in there
- Talk as a group - a normal group chat, with reactions and a typing indicator.
- Switch to video - a group call for whoever wants it, with a "theatre" mode that widens the stage when someone opens a media.
- Watch a video together - the room TV syncs a YouTube link for everyone (more detail here).
- Send sounds - a shared soundbox, with the option to mute one person individually if it gets annoying.
Why this is not yet another Discord
Discord is excellent at what it does, but it assumes a server to configure, roles, channels, and an account for everyone. The HQ starts from the opposite end: nothing to set up, no account - you open it and you invite.
More importantly, it is not an empty room: it is wired into the rest of the game. The people you invite are people you met in matches. You can move straight on to a 2v2, a squad clash or a mini-game without switching app.
The fairest comparison is actually an app that no longer exists: see the Houseparty alternative, since the HQ picks up its drop-in room idea.
Safety inside a group room
A shared space needs guardrails, especially with minors around:
- Invite only. You do not stumble into a room at random: it takes an invite code.
- Ages kept apart. The platform is 15+ and separates minors from adults.
- Peer-to-peer video. Streams do not pass through our servers, and your IP stays hidden from the others.
- Moderation and reporting available from inside the room, including for a video playing on the TV.
What if you have nobody to invite?
That is the most common starting point, and it is exactly the natural order on PLOXX: begin by meeting people at random, keep the ones you click with, and your room fills itself. After that you can build a team with them.
Frequently asked questions
How many people fit in a group room?
Up to 10 members, in chat as well as in video.
Do I need to create an account?
No. No account, no email: you open a room and share the invite code.
Can you join a room at random?
No, access is invite-only. That is deliberate: a group room open to everyone would be impossible to moderate properly.
Can we watch a video together in there?
Yes, a TV syncs a YouTube link for every member, with control either reserved to the host or open to everyone.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
Never. Text chat is enough, and the video call is optional for those who want it.
